Lions Club of Penrith NSW Australia
|
| The Penrith Lions Club was chartered in March 1957.
|
|
We currently have 22 active members
all with the desire to serve our community and to enjoy the friendships that are formed along the way. Current
Local community projects and commitments include:-
Tree day. Each year the club,
together with volunteers from the public, do our part for the environment by planting in excess of 100 trees in the Penrith Area.
For the past few years we have been concentrating upon the South Penrith area.
Youth and Education. The club conducts
local stages of the Lions Youth of the year competition. This gives students from local schools from years 10-12 the
opportunity to exercise their communication skills and improve personal confidence. The club is then able to sponsor the
winner to the next level of the competition.
School Awards. Each year the club is able to recognise students that have achieved a special level of recognition by their teachers.
The Lions club citizenship awards consist of book prizes.
Sport. During November each year
the Penrith Lions club together with the Cambridge Park Lions provide support assistance in the running of the Nepean Triathlon which is
conducted in the Penrith Regatta precinct. Our role is very much appreciated by the organisers and athletes.
The Disadvantaged. During 2011 the
Penrith Lions Club has assisted a young local lady by providing a trained Hearing Dog companion.
We were also involved in the testing and settling in period.

The Western Choclate Wheel.
The Saturday Wheel is a long time landmark in the Penrith plaza. With the catch cry all profits go back to the community, members
of the public can play for a modest outlay and a chance to win a prize.
Lion Christmas Cakes are sold at various venues
and special orders can be accommodated. These quality cakes represent good value for money and have gained a reputation over the years
for their consistency, ingredients, and superior taste.
Lions Mints. For just 50 cents a packet they
represent very good value and are available from a number of outlets throughout the Penrith area.
Sausage Sizzles & BBQs Our club raises valuable funds at these weekend events.
It is not just hard work; it is a real sense of community coming together. Profits are distributed to those areas of greatest need.

| The Christmas Trailer Raffle is our signature project
|
|
For 30 years this special project draws on all the
members of the club to be involved. It has raised over $250,000
For 2 months each year at Christmas time the club conducts a trailer raffle at Centro Penrith Shopping Center. The entire profits and more
are dedicated specifically to the Neo Natal Unit at the Nepean hospital.
By our ongoing efforts we have gained great
respect within the community through the work of this health and humanitarian project.
The community provides us with great positive feed back and because this health facility is central to the journey of life for
many people, customers have regularly shared delightful stories about the unit and what it has provided for their children and their grandchildren.
